Welcome to Family Promise® of Beaufort County, Inc.

Family Promise® of Beaufort County, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3), organization for families in transition. It is one of over 141 Family Promise networks across the nation, consisting of over 5,000 congregations with more than 120,000 volunteers.   Family Promise has served more than 220,000 people nationally.  More than 60% of guests are children and 80% of families move on to long-term housing.  Funding is by individual donations, grants, and fundraising events.

Why Family Promise

There are no homeless shelters in the Beaufort County area. Because Family Promise leverages existing resources–houses of worship and their volunteer networks – its costs are much lower than other programs. There are over 141 Family Promise networks in cities across the country which share their expertise, and a national office which provides additional support.

Over 70% of families involved in Family Promise across the country find permanent housing. Guests without jobs usually find them or enter job training. Others have enrolled in school.

Beaufort County, like our nation, recognizes the problem of homelessness.   The average age of the homeless is nine years old. Our homeless population is often nameless and faceless as they move from location to location, seeking aide and shelter. Beaufort County and Family Promise are committed to the understanding that “one homeless child is one too many.” We join with the Together for Beaufort Project and the Beaufort Alliance for Human Services to lower the number of families in poverty by addressing their immediate need of shelter, food and counseling. It’s not our job, it’s our calling.
